Spring Inspired Artwork
Spring has officially arrived, and our garden is bursting into life! Hyacinths, grape hyacinths, daffodils, and tulips are popping up in every direction—and my creative heart is singing.
There’s something about spring that invites you to pause, breathe in the color, and return to yourself. After a long, gray winter, the world feels vividly awake again… and so does my creativity.
Your Colors Are Calling
One of my favorite ways to kickstart a mixed media project is to pull inspiration directly from what I see—and spring is full of visual treasures. But instead of reaching for a color wheel, I go with my gut. I use intuitive color palettes that feel like me. A palette is more natural and intuitive than a color wheel.
When it comes to discovering your personal style and artistic voice, the key is to tune in and really pay attention to what feels good to you, what you love. You don’t need permission to follow what feels good. Trust your instincts. Let the colors that speak to your soul guide your process. These colors and combinations will always resonate with you, like they “belong” to you because they do!
When you honor your color story, your art becomes unmistakably yours. Trust your gut and unleash your creativity without the constraints of strict rules or guidelines. Mix and mingle textures, materials, and techniques to see how they complement your chosen palette.
Seeking Details
When my eyes land on something I love, I take my time to savor every shade in each petal or the entire scene. Some hues shout, "Look at me!" while others play hide and seek. At first glance, you see bold, joyful color. But when you lean in, you find secret layers waiting just for you!
Each petal tells its own story, a delicate whisper of nature's palette. The vibrant reds may catch your eye first, bold and striking, but look closer and you'll find rosy pinks tucked behind petals, shadows that shimmer green-blue, tiny veins that fade from golden amber to deep plum.
I love letting these tiny details guide my creative flow. They’re like whispered invitations from nature saying, “Come closer. There’s more to see.” It's in these moments of observation that you realize the true beauty of the world around you lies not in the grand, sweeping vistas, but in the tiny, often overlooked details. This discovery transforms a simple moment into an experience of awe and appreciation, opening your eyes to the wonders that surround you every day.
Gather, Play, Explore
Armed with my rainbow of colors, I gather my supplies—paints, inks, crayons, markers, pencils… anything that matches the energy of those garden blooms. The more colorful the pile, the more excited I get! Just seeing this colorful array spread across my table sets my creative heart racing.
As I lose myself in my artistic journey, time slips away, and the room fills with the gentle sounds of creativity—brushes tapping against glass jars, the soft scratch of pencils, and the occasional rustle of paper. The outside world melts away, leaving me wrapped in a cocoon of color and inspiration, where anything is possible, and every idea is a spark waiting to ignite.
With each passing moment, my canvas becomes a celebration—not of perfection, but of pure creative joy. This is what I live for. This is my sanctuary, a place where my imagination knows no bounds and where every shade tells a story.
