What are the differences between an in-person workshop and a retreat?

A workshop is creative class offered by Creatively Misty. A workshop is typically a single day event that lasts for two-five hours. It is primarily an opportunity to learn a specific technique or create a certain project in a casual learning environment. A retreat is an event scheduled by Creatively Misty that can range from three-five days. It combines pre-determined workshops and activists with “free creative time”. Participants bring their own projects to play with during their “free creative time”.

Where are in-person workshops and retreats held?

Creatively Misty is based in western Oregon. All workshops are held in the local area and so are most retreats. Though occasionally a retreat may be held in Washington or California.

How do I register for a workshop or retreat?

Registering for a retreat or workshop is easy! Simply visit the workshop or retreat pages and chose the event you want to join and click the Call To Action button.

When do I get the address for in-person workshops and retreats?

Addresses for workshops and retreats, along with check-in times will be included with your welcome packet once registration is completed.

How many people can attend a retreat?

Creatively Misty retreats accommodate up to 10 overnight participants depending on location. I do this to create a more intimate event where participants can form lasting friendships and communities without feeling overwhelmed or lost in the crowd.

How many people can attend an in-person workshop?

Creatively Misty workshops accommodate up to 10 participants. I do this to create a more intimate event where participants get more one-one-one time with me to learn techniques and complete projects.

What should I bring to an in-person workshop?

Creatively Misty provides all supplies needed for each project/workshop. Tables and chairs will be provided by the venue where the workshop is held. Bringing snacks and water is recommended.

What should I bring to a retreat?

Creatively Misty provides all supplies needed for each pre-determined project. For your “free creative time,” bring whatever supplies you will need for your creative play. Tables and chairs will be provided by the venue where the retreat is held. Additionally, depending on the chosen venue, bed linens and towels may be provided for your use during your overnight stay, along with a kitchen with dishes, pots / pans, refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, coffeemaker and coffee/ tea bags. Please make sure to check all these details on your chosen retreat’s information page. Bringing snacks and water is recommended.

Are meals provided during retreat stays?

This varies, depending on the chosen venue. Some venues provide meals during retreat stays and others provide a full kitchen for use by their guests. Please make sure to check all these details on your chosen retreat’s information page. Bringing snacks and water is recommended regardless.

Do I have to participate in pre-determined retreat activities?

Of course not, you’re free to enjoy your time anyway you choose. Please keep in mind that activities are included in your retreat price and that no discounts or refunds will be issued if you decide not to participate in them.

What if I am unhappy with my finished in-person workshop project?

Though every participant is given step-by-step instructions and shown how to complete each step, all art/projects are left to the interpretation and skill level of the participant. Each participant is unique and not everyone’s art/project will turn out exactly the same or look like the photos/samples. Despite adequate instructions and help some individuals may not like the way their art/projects turn out. Please keep in mind that no discounts or refunds will be issued in these instances.
