DIY Wood Gift Box Decor

Skill level: Beginner

Time needed: 10 minutes

As most people know I’m not a big fan of Christmas. I’ve been in retail far too long and the commercialization of the holiday has burned me out on the whole thing. Christmas is supposed to be a time for love, celebration and family…not stress, running yourself into the ground or going bankrupt. I’ve never understood the overwhelming need to buy all the latest decor or spend all my money on gifts. Christmas to me is just as beautiful when it’s simple, handmade and from the heart.

So even though the holiday isn’t my favorite, I always handmake gifts for my friends and family and do a tiny bit of decorating around the house. My favorite part of the season is helping you DIY your way through it. Today’s project is a super quick and easy decor piece you can create with minimal effort, time, and money. So you can just relax and enjoy your holidays.

Supplies:

Ribbon

Pinecones

Pine branches

Twine

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Leftover Christmas baubles

4x4” wood blocks

wood gift box
  1. Stain or paint your wood blocks if desired.

  2. Wrap twine around the block just like wrapping a gift and double knot.

  3. Cut two pieces of ribbon 5-6” long, laying one on top of the other.

  4. Use the twine to tie the ribbon in place.

  5. Arrange and glue pinecones, branches, and baubles on top of the ribbon.

Happy crafting,

Misty
