Choosing Your Perfect Workshop

Choosing the right creative workshop for you is incredibly important. Each workshop will spark your creativity in different ways, giving you the creative gift of self-care and new inspiring skills. Creative workshops are the perfect way to explore new hobbies on your journey to finding your creative passions. You’ll never learn what you love if you never try it out.

There is a huge variety of classes out there and it can be difficult to choose so today I’ve created this post to answer your questions about the creative workshops I offer here at Creatively Misty.

I am a beginner. Where do I start?

First, I’d love to welcome you. I’m so very happy you’re here.

Most of my workshops are beginner-friendly, with easy projects to inspire you. You can explore a variety of mediums in my painting, mixed media or collaging workshops depending on what interests you most.

What is the difference between your Easy Project Workshops and your Discovery Workshops?

My Easy Project Workshops take you from start-to-finish on specific, single projects. Each step is explained, so you can easily follow along. Most teach a single technique to complete your project. I always encourage students to follow their own creative voice, but with project workshops it’s absolutely fine to create work similar to mine. It’s a great way to learn.

My Discovery Workshops are more about developing your own style. Even though we still create projects, there is more room for you to bring in your unique perspective. Typically, I’ll cover several types of techniques you can use on a variety of projects/artwork while we create multiple pieces.

Will I learn something new?

Inevitably, there will always be repeated information when I explain concepts and supplies, but every workshop is different. There are always new techniques, color palettes, and projects to try out.

I don’t have the supplies and I’m on a budget. What would you suggest?

I completely understand how expensive art supplies are and that having the latest and greatest isn’t aways possible. It’s the main reason why I am a fairly minimalistic artist and avid upcycler. I am very selective about the supplies that I use and how much I’m spending on them. It’s a great idea to hit thrift stores, share with other crafty friends and take inventory of the things you already have that can be used/incorporated.

There is almost always a less expensive, good quality version of most mixed media supplies. For helpful information about the supplies I use most often, check out my guide for Building Your Mixed Media Art Kit.

I am very busy; do I have time to watch your workshop?

All of my workshops come with LIFETIME ACCESS. I know how unpredictable life can be sometimes and feeling stressed about using something before it “expires” is never good for your creative flow. You can work my workshops around your life and return as many times as you’d like. Most of my workshops are also fairly short so you can do them when you have free time without having to set aside large blocks of time.

What is the format of the workshops?

At the moment, all of my workshops are offered through Youtube video but I plan to upgrade to a platform like Teachable in the future.

Do you have a favorite workshop?

I typically don’t have a favorite workshop as I just love crafting and creating in general, but I do love mixed media the most. It offers so much to play with and explore. So, for now, I’d have to go with Artist’s Journey or Abstract Collage.

Can I purchase several workshops in one transaction?

This option is currently available through my shop.

I hope this post has been helpful for you. Thank you to everyone who has already participated in a workshop. I am grateful for each and every one of you!
